One of Austin's most iconic events, Eeyore's Birthday Party, is this weekend. Here's what you need to know.

The party is on Saturday at Pease District Park.

Eeyore's Birthday Party starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the park, 1100 Kingsbury St., and goes until 8 p.m. The party is a fundraiser to benefit local non-profit organizations.

The party is free to attend.

Not only is the event free to go to, free shuttle buses to the party will be available. The buses pickup near the capitol building downtown and run every 10 minutes. Park your car in State Garages E and J and then the bus picks up at the corner of Colorado and 16th streets.

This year marks the 59th annual Eeyore's Birthday Party.

Lots of activities will be available.

A kid costume contest, a sack race, an adult costume contest, an egg toss, face paiting, henna, a real-life donkey and more are all on the agenda for Eeyore's Birthday Party. Live music starts at noon and ends at 6 p.m.

T-shirts, food, and beverages will be available to purchase. All proceeds go to local non-profit organizations.

Here's a little history before you go.

Eeyore's Birthday Party, now in its 59th year, was started by Lloyd Birdwell in 1964 to celebrate the birthday of the "Winnie-the-Pooh" character. If you can recall, Eeyore complains that no one remembers his birthday. The first parties were just Birdwell and his friends, but now the event draws hundreds to Pease Park to dance, play, and do drum circles.
